A resource kit for children (and their families) who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. The kit contains DVD, Leader's Handbook, Activity Books, Poster, Stickers and audio CD.

CREATING THE FUTURE is suitable for use by health, welfare, educational and therapeutic workers whose clients are 4-12 year old children and their families. The resource package can be used in both individual and group work with children, young people and families who:

Currently live in situations of domestic violence
Have separated as a result of domestic violence
Have contact with the offending parent
Have no contact with the offending parent
Are friends, peers or relatives of children and families who have experienced domestic violence and abuse

A community education and training package for adults about overcoming the effects of domestic violence and abuse on children.

This package:

Introduces adults to the issues of physical and emotional abuse of children in the context of domestic violence
Examines the dynamics and tactics of domestic violence and invites adults to understand children’s feelings, beliefs and behaviours
Presents positive parenting attitudes that enable adults to nurture and support the emotional and physical well being of children
Assists in determining perpetrators’ attitudes and their potential “workability” for change
Educates the general and professional community about child abuse and domestic violence issues
Identifies a range of interpersonal and systemic intervention strategies
